Silvers medals for Richard Belle and Reuben Hemmings

On the final day of a long tournament Richard Belle (-82kg) and Reuben Hemmings (-76kg) both came away with a silver medal.

Richard, the defending world champion lost to Ireland in the final. He also came with a silver medal in the Special Technique.

Reuben, the most improved fighter of the tournament lost a very close fight in the final, also to Ireland.

Today's update

Today was the longest day of the tournament so far with a 9:00am start and a 9:30pm finish.

Joann Rolison got the day off to a good start by winning her third medal of the tournament. She won gold in the Girls Special Technique, taking her tally to 2 golds and 1 silver.

Richard Belle (-82kg) has made his way into the final which will be held tomorrow. On his way through he beat USA, Wales and Argentina. He will be against Ireland in the final.

Michael Belle (-64kg) in his first adult world championships was unlucky to loose to Japan.

Jamaine Hemmings (-70kg) made his way through to the quarter finals today beating Uzbekistan and Ireland, eventually loosing a close fight to the current world champion from Argentina.

Ben England (-64kg) had some good fights against Hong Kong and Argentina, where he eventually lost with a very close decision.

Jack England (-64kg) fought well in his first tournament since he went up from Junior to Adult. He out fought Sweden but then lost to a very experienced fighter from Spain.

Reuben Hemmings (-76kg), one of the most improved fighters in the team has made his way through to the semi-finals, which will be held tomorrow. On his way through he beat Argentina and Northern Ireland.

Gavin Williamson (+82kg) got a bronze medal today! On his way through he beat Holland, Scotland, Argentina before losing to another Argentina fighter.

Rhianne O'Neill (+70kg) fought well against USA but eventually lost to Argentina.

Medals for Lucy Wolf and Carol-Ann Butt

Lucy Wolf just got Bronze in the Ladies -50kg sparring division, losing to Argentina via a split decision in extra time, in the semi-finals.

Carol-Ann Butt put in a good performance to get Silver in the Senior (veteran) Ladies -55kg division.

Other good sparring performances today came from, Steve Morgan in the Senior Men (veteran) -70kg division and Amber Mitchell in the Ladies -70kg division.

We're in for another long day tomorrow with the start of the Adult Male divisions.

Due on tomorrow are the following... Richard Belle, Michael Belle, Jamaine Hemmings, Ben England, Jack England, Reuben Hemmings and Gavin Williamson.

Tom Smith just won gold in the boys -70kg division! He beat Argentina, Canada, Scotland, then USA in the final. Tom has got the day off to a good start. We're now waiting for Senior (veteran) and Adult sparring.

Gold for Lucy and Joann

Lucy Wolf won gold in the Ladies 5th Degree Pattern. Lucy was against Scotland, then Argentina in the final. This is Lucy's third gold medal in a Taekwon-Do World Championship!

Joann won gold in the Girls -50kg division. She cruised her way through the early rounds dropping her opponents with side kicks to the body. She finished with her best performance against Argentina in the final, using and axe kick to take the lead in the second half of the fight.

Long Day

It was a long day today. There were three area's running but two were finishing the Taekwon-Do Festival, leaving only one area for the world championships.

Lucy Wolf will now be competing tomorrow. There will be three area's running tomorrow and the Juniors are scheduled to start their sparring. In the juniors we have Tom Smith in the boys -70kg and Joann Rolison in the girls -50kg.

The adult females may also be sparring tomorrow. Check back for up to the minute updates!

Joann Rolison Wins Silver Medal!

Joann Rolison just won a silver medal in the girls 2nd Degree Pattern. She beat Canada and Australia in the early rounds and had a split decision in the final against the USA.

Team England just attended the Opening Ceremony for the 2010 ITF World Championships. The ceremony consisted of demonstrations involving breaking, patterns and acrobatic displays.

All participating countries attended as well as ITF President - Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa.

Tomorrow we have Lucy Wolf competing in the Ladies 5th Degree Pattern and Joann Rolison in the Girls 2nd Degree Pattern.

The weigh-in and registration are done. Opening Ceremony done. We're now ready to compete!

We've just been to the weigh-in and registration. After seeing many of the other competing countries I think team England is anxious to get started. It was good meeting old friends and familiar faces from around the world.

The World Championships Opening Ceremony is scheduled for 5 o'clock today.

Training then sightseeing

We had another training session this morning. The emphasis today was on getting mentally prepared for the competition.

In the afternoon we went sightseeing (see pictures).

We have an early start tomorrow with the weigh-in and registration. It will be an even earlier start for those that need to go to the sauna before hand!

World Taekwon-Do Festival

We went along to the Taekwon-Do Festival this afternoon. Today was a competition for Tul (ITF Pattern) and poomse (WFT Pattern). Tomorrow will be sparring and destruction for both ITF and WFT Taekwon-Do. There are no competitors from England in the Festival but there is a big contingent from many other countries. Morning training session

We had a light training session this morning conducted my Master Wolf. It consisted of a 10 minute run and one for one technique work with stretching to warm up. Then we did about 30 minutes sparring. We're off to the Taekwon-Do festival now, more updates later.

Hi everyone. We've checked into our hotel along with other members of team England. There is a Taekwon-Do festival (see pic) on here for the next couple of days so we will be going along to that from tomorrow. As far as I know we're due to weigh-in and register for the world championships on Saturday. We're 8 hours ahead here in South Korea. That's all the news I have at the moment. Stay tuned.

p.s. Thank you to Mr Skyrme for organising the trip. Everything has run very smoothly so far.

After an 11 hour flight we have arrived in Seoul. We now have a 2 hour coach journey to our hotel in Cheongju where we will meet up with the rest of team England.
